Ballet Studio
description
With a team of highly qualified professionals, our mission is to provide our students with a balance between discipline and joy.
Classes follow a structured sequence of training stages designed to improve technical skills, endurance and artistry, aligned with the age and physical development of the students. We begin with the joy of moving to music, reinforcing it with a foundation in classical technique and instruction in basic ballet terminology.
The program spans several levels, incorporating techniques such as pointe work, pas de deux, contemporary dance, jazz, conditioning, as well as classes in musical theater and dance history. As students master each level and advance to the next level, classes become progressively more challenging, preparing students for success in whatever career path they choose for their future.
General information
Students are placed in one of eight levels based on age, experience and ability. Ballet classes at BalanS follow a progressive path, beginning with young students ages 8 to 11 in level 1 and increasing in difficulty up to level eight.
All new students ages 8 to 18 are required to attend an assessment day after enrollment. This orientation will resemble a mock ballet class. One of the BalanS directors, either Aida Orillac, Ana Lorena Boyd or Camile Menaged, will be in charge of seeing if the student is interested and excited about learning ballet, wants to work hard and can receive and apply corrections to their work. . BalanS Ballet School considers a student's physical abilities during enrollment screening. We want to make sure the student is placed at the right level to reach their full potential.
Once a student is admitted to the beginning levels of ballet school, he/she will be placed in a class according to his/her level of technical training and ability. A student may spend one or two years at each level until age 12. The annual evaluation of the student's progress by the director will determine the student's placement for the following school year. Once a student is 11 years old, he/she will be invited to audition for the intermediate levels.
For Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet students, recitals are optional.
Our Pre-Ballet program, designed for ages 5-7, integrates all the essential fundamentals necessary for ballet technique in a developmentally appropriate manner, while exploring the joy and excitement of movement, imagination and music. All Pre-Ballet students must attend at least twice a week.
Our students will be encouraged to participate in various performances throughout the year, not associated with the school. We want to expose them to as many opportunities as possible.
Parents will be invited to attend several observation classes per school year. Dates will be shared with parents throughout the year.
Classes are taught throughout the year. No previous experience is required. Our curriculum is designed for a one-year commitment. All students must pay a registration fee and a performance fee. To participate in the final exhibition, students must be enrolled three to six months in advance, depending on their skill level.
Continue registration for the 2023-2024 school year above. The first tuition fee, along with the non-refundable registration fee of $125.00 is required to complete the registration process. Subsequent payments will be due the first five days of each month. The payment schedule is based on a 10-month school year. Therefore, some months may have fewer classes than others due to school closings for vacations and breaks.
